The Gadsden Flag (1775): A stylized version of the original "Don't Tread On Me Flag,"  named after General Christopher Gadsden  who designed it in 1775, and was carried by the continental marines troops during the revolutionary war.
It features a rattlesnake above the warning, "DON'T TREAD ON ME." The rattle snake had become a traditional symbol of the American Colonies. The most obvious reason for this is that the rattlesnake was ONLY found in the American Colonies and nowhere else in the world. The origin of the slogan
Don't Tread On Me
pertains to the snake's deadly strike and the idea that it is best, generally, when left alone. This flag was also carried by the confederate south during the civil war. Now these days, the Tea Party movement has also adopted the flag as their symbol of defiance. Please Note: This flag is a true US national flag that can be flown at any event.
Flag is made from man-made materials and has two reinforced brass grommets for hanging from a pole. Measures: 3' x 5'. Graphic may vary slightly from the one shown depending on what we have in stock.
