9th hussar Kiev field Marshal General of Prince Nicholas Repnin regiment led its genealogy from the little Russian 1st company hunting regiment. For almost a hundred years of its existence, it was a mercenary army, which consisted “at the side” of the Hetman and was kept at the expense of the military Treasury. In the end of 1775 it was decided to transfer the three company regiments that existed at that time in little Russia to the “regular service”, i.e. to include them in the Russian Imperial army.
On the basis of the rich archival material stored in the Central state historical archive of Ukraine (Kiev) in the book questions of the device of okhochekomonny regiments, their salary and other contents are in detail described, continuity of the company colonels in 1715-1775 is traced. In the text directly reform, and also the reorganization of the former company regiments in 1785 into carabinieri is in detail analyzed, since the analysis of these two events proves that the Kiev hussars existed continuously from 1706 to 1918.
The present work may be useful to future historians of the 2nd Leib-Pskov Dragoons, 6th Dragoons and the fantastic 17th Chernigov hussar regiments, which, as kievtsy, in 1914 had the highest kockmann regiments.
