After spending hours deciding on the best smart lock that suited my needs aka easy to install, newest model w/ all the bells and whistles that works with Apple Homekit, and sleek design I finally decided on the Schlage Encode Plus. Only 1 store out of all major hardware chains within 100 miles from both Palm Beach County and Ft. Lauderdale had it in stock with “Limited Availability.” I called for a product check the rep was shocked to find that they had 11 available, the next day when I was ready to make the 40 min drive to pick it up they mysteriously couldn’t be found. I looked online and there was a 6-10 week wait just for the item to leave the warehouse. After scouring Amazon and Ebay I placed an order on Amazon to pay over 0 for a new one, glad to just have found one. Fortunately, I double checked the model# and it was the older version 489 not 499 and immediately cancelled the misleading order. Ebay had 1 seller that had the item listed at 9.99 and the box had been opened… I’m kinda picky when it comes to certain things and will to pay more for an item that is brand new. Home Depot called me back 2 days later at my request saying they had found 9 of the missing items and I insisted on paying for it over the phone right then and there to ensure it didn’t disappear again. My business mind thought of buying all 9 and reselling the extras, however nothing good comes of greed so I just got 2 one for me and 1 to resell to cover all the time and money I spent on this search for the holy grail of smart locks lol
