RACECEIVER 454.000MHz Scanner Antenna. NEW.
Looking for an external ground plane antenna to connect to your scanner to listen to the Race Directors’ communications to the drivers at your favorite dirt track?
This antenna is tuned for optimum performance for 454.000MHz. The operating range is from 438.000 to 470.000MHz, however the antenna will still pass signals, but the antenna is tuned for maximum performance for the 454.000 MHz frequency.
You can transmit on this antenna as well, if you are permitted to do so, up to 100 watts.
The connector is an Amphenol SO-239 with the bakelite insulator.
The antenna height is 10 1/8 inches high and is 8 ½ inches square.
You will need a coax cable to connect the antenna to whatever radio or scanner you have.
As you can tell the antenna connection is a SO-239. You will need a PL-259 to what ever connection you need to connect to your scanner or radio. Coax jumpers are sold on Ebay.
The antenna is small an extremely lightweight. You can use a piece of string or fishing line (something non-conductive) to attach to the center radiator and hang the antenna that way. Or you can become creative and use ½ inch pvc pipe and support the antenna that way or place it on top of your camping chair. You can place the antenna on a flat non-conductive surface as well. If you do that make sure that your coax is secure so that the weight of your coax does not pull your antenna off what it is sitting on because the coax is heavier than the antenna.
Remember that an antenna is only as good as the installation and the coax used to connect it.
This antenna can be used indoors or outdoors.
