Shako Helmet, French Napoleonic Shako helmet | Napoleonic hat|
This Napoleonic French Shako is constructed from thick leather; it is overlaid in black felt on the sides and decorated with red cloth banding and brass accents. The leather chin straps with brass plates are fastened with a leather cord. The removable braid hangs from the two brass hooks atop the helm and the plume is fitted behind the cockade with a separate brass holder.
The inside of the helm is lined with felt at the sides and padded with canvas and leather near its base.
