I have sold over 2000 of these for use in high end professional wireless microphone receivers which operate on the 800MHz band, and they have proven to be extremely effective and durable.
With the addition of the SMA adapter, they are also perfect for an upgrade to the
Uniden HomePatrol
scanner antenna as they offer an increased 5dBi gain versus the stock 2-3.5dBi  antenna.
Don't be fooled by exaggerated claims that longer antennas are better than shorter ones. It is the PROPER length in relation to the frequency you are using that matters most! These are
TRUE 1/2-wave
antennas at 800MHz. The length is EXACTLY correct for this frequency range, which assures you the highest gain. The gain of any antenna falls off as you move from the center point, including the original included with your scanner. Starting from a higher initial gain gives you more gain left as you venture further from the center, and the falloff rate is consistent and not severe. This will give you improved performance on the lower bands, and outstanding results on the 750-960MHz bands.
As an additional bonus, these can be locked into three different positions,
0,45,and 90 degrees,
which make them extremely flexible to use in varying applications and locations of your scanner.  This was a requirement for the wireless microphone receivers, and should be of value to scanner users as well.
Construction is hard rubber, not plastic, so they are extremely durable. Connector/adapter is high quality metal.
It took a long to time to find a source for these and ship enough to verify that they indeed have worked perfectly for customers. My main purpose was for my audio business for use on high end wireless receivers. I now realize that they would be perfect for any 800MHz application, scanners being the most obvious.
