    1819 Mexican Independence War "ESTANDARTE DE HIDALGO" Banner
    This is a REPLICA - the historic original (picture below) is well guarded at the Chapultepec Castle in Mexico City
    Some Background information to this historic Banner
    This Banner was used by the Mexican Independence "Insurgentes"
    It dates from ca. 1810.
    In the center of the Banner is the Virgin of Guadalupe ,to the left a Spanish shield (House of Bourbon), to the right is the shield of the Franciscan Province of San Pedro and San Pablo in Michoacán,
    .Below them to the right and continuing to the left of the main image is an inscription in Latin which says "Viva María Santísima de Guadalupe", beneath two bouquets of roses. The original Banner is exhibited in the flags room of the National Museum of History in Mexico City.
