Description
This small volume is quite interesting. Published in 1965 by the Golden Head Press. The subject is the handiwork that prisoners of war created and sold to buy food while across England in prison. Most were French and Dutch. Jane Toller the author looks at the mid 1700s to 1815. she explains the conditions of the prisons from high ranking officers to foot troops and the amazing things they made. Bone, wood, hair were all used, along with forging bank notes and indecent items. With several illustrations, rare. Item measures 5 3/4 x 8 1/4 inches, thanks for looking.
