1800s Polish Cavalry Officer 4 Corner Hat with Plume
We have been told this type of hat was worn by Polish cavalry fighting for the French.
A gorgeous hat that has never been worn.  A very elaborate piece that took a lot of time to make.  The work done to make this hat is excellent.  We don’t know the unit or the exact time period but we still like the looks of this hat.  It is a very good quality reproduction.
The eagle may be mistaken for original.  Maybe it is.  The pins are missing from the back and it is held to the hat with wire.  The faceplate and the cross are just thick metal that the maker took some care to adorn it correctly with lion heads on each end and tree branches pointing to the center.
The upper part of hat is wool and the lower half is thin leather, or possibly faux leather.  We don’t know who made it.  We acquired it in a collection and the collector may have had this created just to put in his collection.  It is an elaborate reproduction of an elaborate French officer’s helmet as looks awesome just as is.
This would look so great on a shelf in your den.  What a conversation starter!  Educate the children and friends on what war was like before kevlar helmets.
